At the Rockingham Dental Centre we’re always looking for ways to improve your care and comfort in the surgery, and there’s no doubt that in the world of dentistry there have been some remarkable developments over the last few years.
Some of the most interesting innovations have been in the use of lasers – you may have come across the Diagnodent, a laser-based device that we use to detect tooth decay in the very early stages. This means we can find and fix a much smaller cavity, often with adhesive composite resin techniques rather than amalgam, before a major dental procedure becomes necessary.
The Diagnodent also gives a numerical reading for the degree of decay, so if the decision is made to ‘keep an eye’ on a particular cavity, the progress of that cavity can be measured over time and a decision made later to restore if necessary.
